NYRI Continues Publicity Offensive in P&SB

The New York Regional Interconnect (NYRI) power line is a proposed high voltage line that would run about 200 miles from Oneida County in Upstate New York to Orange County in Downstate (running through Broome County). Folks around these parts are mostly opposed to this monstrosity because it won’t economically benefit the people whose land would be stolen by eminent domain to make it possible. NYRI, the private corporation, wants New York State to use it’s governmental power to force people to sell their land to them so they can construct huge towers and run massive power lines across our backyards.

But…the Public Service Commission must approve it, and has not, as yet, done so. The NYRI power line is due to come online in 2011, if they can manage to ram it through. Construction is supposed to start sometime this year. So it’s no surprise to me that the Press & Sun-Bulletin has run yet another press release from NYRI: NYRI, veterans council partner to provide jobs. The tone and gist of the article in the P&SB is: WHEN this thing is built, NYRI will give out some jobs to disabled vets (never mind how a disabled vet is going to work on it!). The article should be about IF this thing is built. How nice of the P&SB to provide NYRI free publicity in its news pages. No doubt the NYRI is buying large ads too–remember my comments about the Chinese Wall at the P&SB?

My theory about NYRI may be a little off the mark…but I’ll stick to it nonetheless. You can read it here: The Fall of Indian Point Nuclear and Rise of NYRI.

Will NYRI hire disabled veterans to tear down the American Legion in Clayville, NY? It sits 15’ from their primary route.

And will NYRI hire downstate disabled veterans to break the news to our Veterans that they must now sell their land & homes to NYRI?

The same land & homes they once fought to defend in prior wars?

    For a power-line we don’t even need?

Local Veterans are insulted by NYRI’s latest ploy.

They see it for what it is.

Our Veterans should never be forced to sell their land by way of Federal Eminent Domain because of a Foreign Company [NYRI] that has just invaded America.

Thanks much for the comment Billy. Good questions you ask! I was not aware that NYRI is a foreign corporation–but then aren’t most large corporations foreign owned these days? Sad but true.
