Federal Stimulus Money Produces 3.5 Jobs in Binghamton Region

Completely mind-blowing. The grand total number of jobs created by Obama’s stimulus money in our area of New York State so far? 3 1/2. You read that right…three and one-half jobs. Not hundreds, not thousands, not even tens…just 3 1/2 single jobs. From an article in the Press & Sun-Bulletin:
In the 10 counties of the Binghamton-Elmira-Ithaca region, contracts for federal projects have created the equivalent of 3.5 jobs, the Associated Press found. Three counties in Pennsylvania’s Northern Tier have seen a total of eight jobs created.
I know of Subway sandwich shops that create more jobs–and don’t cost the taxpayers a dime! It begs the question: Of the $16 BILLION already spent from the $787 BILLION stimulus bill, where did it go? Or rather, into whose pockets did it go? The first place I would look is Harry Reid, Christopher Dodd, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and other sleazy, corrupt politicians.

It is haunting to think that in all likeliness, the country would have recovered financially without a single bailout or a lick of stimulus money. The businesses in the area I know who have been recovering at a slow but steady pace did not receive any government monies, to my knowledge. And *then* I hear Planned Parenthood delve out advertisements on the radio all day long for free abortion (sorry, morning after) pills. I wonder who’s paying for that? Sad, and sickening. I paint them on the same portrait as ACORN. Criminal. They should be shut down without warning.

Thanks Sis, good thoughts. I agree with you. We would not have gone over the financial cliff if (pains me to say this) GW Bush had done nothing. He was pressured into going down the socialist road–although that does not absolve him at all. He was President–it was his decision. But the door he opened, Obama galloped through and has done 10 times worse in expanding government far beyond its proper role in our society. It will take years to undo the damage that has been caused.
This article–stimulus money creating no jobs–is a glittering example of government’s inability to do anything economically useful. Government’s proper role is to protect the citizens–from outside harm and in certain cases from each other–and that’s it. Government’s role is not to ensure anyone’s happiness–only the right for individuals to pursue happiness and either find it or not find it as their own individual actions will dictate.
