Coming Soon to a Grocery Store Near You – The Twinkie Tax

As predicted, the socialists that want to control every aspect of your life have graduated from “bad things” like cigarettes, to controlling things like…Twinkies? That’s right, now that we’re on the slippery slope of limiting your personal freedoms, we’re moving on from controlling smoking to controlling “junk food.” Read this guest viewpoint which recently ran in the Press & Sun-Bulletin: ‘Twinkie tax’ doesn’t address core obesity issues. Now, throw up.
It seems a brilliant Harvard psychologist, Kelly Brownell, believes we should start taxing Twinkies and other high calorie junk food in order to control stupid Americans who can’t control their own eating habits. The viewpoint writer, Sara Florini, agrees with Brownell’s sentiments but not with the proposal for more taxes. Florini says in her viewpoint, “Fast-food industries put forth a negative effect on society, which costs money and results in unhealthy eating, obesity and even death.” Florini concludes it’s better to spend your hard-earned money on government programs that promote healthy living rather than take the drastic action of taxing Twinkies as Ms. Brownell proposes. How generous.
Does any of this sound familiar? Rewind about 15 years with the tobacco industry and the arguments, proposals, even the words are identical. The next thing you’ll start to hear is that the big, bad junk food companies put chemicals in the food to hook you, and they know it but they’re covering it up. Then the blood-sucking lawyers will be out in force to run a shakedown on the Frito Lays of the world–because that’s where the money is. Wise up people!
The point of this rant is that the libs are coming and they’re coming for YOU. They know better than you what you should eat, what to put in your body, what to put on your body, where you should go, how to get there–in short, how to live your life. And they’re happy to guide the misguided (you) by using tax policies and laws to do it. Although many laws are well-intentioned–like seatbelts and helmets for bikers–such laws cheapen the value of personal freedom which was paid for and is maintained with American blood. Every time a new law or tax is passed which limits your freedom, it’s one more nail in the coffin of the greatest experiment in human freedom ever on this planet–the United States of America.
The libs are out of control and need to be aggressively pushed back into the hole from whence they came. I’ll take my Twinkie deep fried, thank you!
