A Sad Day in Greater Binghamton – Post Election Thoughts

sad-face.jpgIt is a sad day in Binghamton, where I live. Socialist Mayor Matt Ryan has helped get a slate of Citizen Action toadies elected to City Council. There is now much less of a counterbalance against his gross incompetency. He is arguably the worst mayor in Binghamton in a generation. And now he has a sympathetic City Council to rubber stamp is leftist lunacy. God help us all.

Keep your hand on your wallet Binghamtonians. The good socialist mayor and his gang are coming for your money. You see, they think you don’t need it and “the poor” (i.e. their buddies) do. So you can expect to pay higher taxes. And you can expect to see nutty stuff, like “impeach Bush & Cheney” resolutions passed. Everything but the real business of the City of Binghamton. Well, you voted for it, so you’re going to get it!

The one high note: The voters in Vestal saw through the Sierra Club attempted smear on Peter Andreasen, who won re-election as Vestal Town Supervisor. The Sierra Club tried to whip up dissent a week before the election over the issue of logging in Jones Park. From what I can tell, some time ago the idea was floated to investigate the possibility of raising money for the Town of Vestal by selective logging in Jones Park. No decisions. Not even a public hearing yet. Just an idea that was starting to be discussed. The Sierra Club tried to use it to paint Andreasen as a big bad industrialist who wants to cut down the pretty trees. Nice to know there are some voters left with discernment. Unfortunately they don’t live in Binghamton, where I live (hopefully not for long).

How about you? Happy or sad with Tuesday’s results. Leave me a comment.
