Eliot Spitzer’s “State of Upstate” Speech — Hold on To Your Wallet »

Gov. Eliot “The Don” Spitzer has made a proclamation from on high. The Don is going to prance down the main streets of a few upstate cities and throw out dollar bills like confetti. Local politicians are salivating like suckling pigs jockeying for position to get the biggest meal from the bloated sow that is [...]

Village of Windsor Makes a Wise Decision to Not Consolidate »

I’ve written before about the folly of municipal political consolidation. The Press & Sun-Bulletin reports today that a group of people in the Village of Windsor appointed to study dissolution of the Village (and merger with the Town) spent a year looking at it and came to the same conclusion.

Update on the Presidential Race »

Yes, I watched the New Hampshire primary returns eagerly last night, wondering what would happen. It’s fascinating. I can’t remember a time when more people were “engaged” in the process. It is a stretch to prognosticate based on one contest, even if it’s the first-in-the-nation. But hey, it’s my blog! So I’ll stick my neck out.
The first thing I notice about last [...]

Spitzer – Sleazier and Sleazier »

This choice tidbit from the AP via the Press & Sun-Bulletin:
The New York state ethics investigator probing the Spitzer administration is getting a $15,000 raise after less than a year on the job.
Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno says the raise for Public Integrity Commission Executive Director Herbert Teitelbaum to $155,000 is troubling. The commission is [...]

Presidential Election 2008 Web Resources »

It dawns on me that you may want to check out the candidates’ websites for yourself. Most of them are surprisingly well done and helpful/informative so you can get to know more about each candidate and his or her positions.
I’m also including some helpful issue comparison sites, in case there are issues important to you [...]
